Malminskiye Islands are hard to get in the log because
- They are claimed by less than 10% of IOTA chasers (8.3% as of today), last expedition from there being in 2004 with RI0CM.
- They are locaed in R0C area, zone 19, an almost pure polar path from Western Europe, but a short and clear path for almost all Europe.
No magic there with the entire Europe continent and callers to cros over, I needed extra-help instead of spending hours of in-vain calling. Although they spent all the day on 20m CW with a nice peak at their sunset up to 559, they were simply too many obstacles to cope with (including personal ones with tons of things to do at home)
I decided to wait for my sunset (19:27z tonight) and went to the shack at 19:00. Steady S3 here, slightly increasing. I could make the QSO at 19:15z, 12 minutes before sunset, right in the greyline zone with a real 559 report. The operator was oscillating between +1 (more or less) and +3KHz (more or less also). Listening to where he was taking was quite easy, not much flutter, and still some local propagation. The hardest was to get through, which I did at +0,9KHz.
IOTA # 672, many thanks Vasily for this great effort !!!!!!
Ronan, F8AFC
PS : Remember, for IOTA chasing, only 1 QSO counts. No need to work it on all slots, so give a chance to others !!!!!
